Setting up the room

Select the  components that fit your budget and your room .

The components I selected were:

  1. Denon AVR X6200W
  2. SVS 5.1 Prime Satellite System
  3. Epson Home Cinema 2040
  4. Silver Ticket 92″ 16:9 Screen
  5. Sony PS3 (games and movies)
  6. Monoprice Speaker brackets, Banana plugs and Wall plates

I have posted some of my research for my component selection on the following pages. Here I am showing how it all came together.

Step 1: Switch the wall plates

Fortunately this room came pre wired. I had to switch the wall plates, with the ones from Monoprice. Easy Peasy…

Once you have the wall plate in place, screw in the speaker bracket at the appropriate height.

Step 2: Install the projector

This was definitely the most difficult task. I almost gave up, as I was not able to provide adequate support, and almost ended up tearing out the dry wall. Some bad a$$ wall anchors finally did the trick.

The projector shown here is an older Infocus one. I have since replaced it with the Epson 2040. The Monoprice projector bracket is actually quite easy to adjust, to get the projector aligned to the screen.

Step 3: Assemble and install the screen

I would say this was the second most difficult task. Definitely a 2 man job. But once done, it was looking great.

Step 4: Pretty up the room

The next few step is to take the room up a notch. Add curtains, and art to the wall, and give it a true theater feel. This is WIP as of Jan 2017…

Step 5: Make some popcorn and enjoy the movie.
