Netflix vs Hulu Plus vs Amazon Prime vs Redbox

After many months of using Netflix, Hulu Plus and Amazon Prime, RedBox and HDHomerun-Elgao Eye TV, here are my thoughts:

Redbox:

$1.29/movie. A definite “must do” if you are one of those who don’t have time to go to the movies, and have to wait for the movies to come on DVD/BR. Cant beat the price. The online movie options cost way more than Redbox. Combined with HDHomerun+Elgato EyeTV, it has the potential to meet most of your needs.

Amazon Prime:

$79/year. Decent movie and TV show selection, can rent movies. Decent Kid show selection. Gives you the 2 Day shipping option with Amazon purchases. If you buy on Amazon, then I would say it basically pays for itself.

HDHomerun-Elgao Eye TV:

A must have if you are thinking of “cutting the chord”. Works flawlessly.

Hulu Plus:

95.88/year. Important to have if you need to catch up to the latest shows. Doesn’t really overlap with Netflix or Amazon Prime. Really poor movie selection. Kid show selection is better than Netflix.

Netflix:

95.88/year. Decent movie and show selection. Not much new content in either categories. Decent kid show selection.
